What You Need to Know about adidas EQT 2017
Highly appreciated and finally dropping: the day of the release of the huge relaunch of the adidas Equipment series is coming closer. We already presented to you our recap of the “History of EQT” exhibition and our interesting interview with adidas’ Global Senior Director adidas Originals Footwear Concepts Till Jagla to kick off the launch. But some of your questions might not be answered yet. In order to do so, we put together a big info package that includes everything, from the inspiration, the different models, prices and dates down to a few on feet pictures and of course a huge list of stores that will definitely have the EQT drop in stock. Here’s what you need to know about adidas EQT 2017.
What is adidas Equipment and what’s the history?
The adidas Equipment line was first introduced in 1991 and was a “no bullshit” approach to footwear and apparel. In bold and simple colors, everything was reduced to the essentials and all about performance – it was advertised as “The best of adidas”. At the same time, the “Three Bars” logo was introduced and is used to this day. EQT was a big step for adidas and the message resonated with a wide range of people. Quickly, the early 90s products became the stuff of nostalgia, glorified by collectors and retroed many times. All this now serves as an inspiration for a new Equipment line, which also introduces the new color “turbo red”.
When will the 2017 adidas Equipment drop be released?
The first drop of the adidas EQT 2017 series will be released worldwide on January 26 via selected retailers. Read more in the Shop List section below.
What is part of the first drop of adidas EQT 2017?
The first drop of the 2017 EQT series contains eight adidas silhouettes, including several colorways – 3 of them are “Foot Locker” exclusives:
adidas EQT Support RF
The EQT Support may be the most classic men’s silhouette of the current drop. Originally released in 1993, the Support silhouette recently received a „shape matters“ treatment. Now the RF version (Refine) comes with an amazing shape and a combination of mesh and suede on the upper. Tonal details in Turbo Red complete the look. Several colorways will be released this week, including three Foot Locker exclusive styles! Note: due to the reshape, the EQT Support RF will fit true to size!
adidas EQT Support ADV PK
The EQT Support ADV PK is the primeknit version of the Support ADV. The primeknit upper is very flexible, an Ortholite insole ensures great comfort.
adidas EQT ADV W
The women’s version oft he EQT Support ADV W features a minimalistic look with Ice-Purple on the midsole and heel patch as a great contrast to the black upper.
adidas EQT Support Ultra
A mix of mesh and suede meets the Boost midsole – it’s a great combination of a classic upper and ultramodern running technology.
adidas EQT Support ADV
The Support ADV was the new EQT silhouette in 2016. Elements of the classic EQT aesthetics were updated with a new shape and a socklike upper. The upper features details in Turbo red and reflective 3M parts.
adidas EQT Racing 91 W
The EQT Racing 91 W could be the most special silhouette of the EQT series with these sandal-like elements on the upper. It was originally released in 1991 and clearly shows the ZX roots of adidas Equipment!
adidas EQT Racing 91-16 W
The EQT Racing 91-16 W is an updated version of the Racing 91 with a modern Boost sole – what a sporty and at the same time stylish women’s model!
adidas EQT Support 93/17 “Turbo Red”
The EQT Support 93/17 is the new flagship of the first adidas Equipment drop in 2017! For the first time, Boost was used in the sole of the EQT ADV and for the first time ever, adidas created a moulded boost sole to include the characteristic three stripes of the adidas EQT sole.
ADIDAS EQUIPMENT SUPPORT ULTRA PK
Techy look meets full primeknit upper meets UltraBoost sole!

What is that new color? Why is there a new color?
With the re-launch of adidas Equipment, adidas Originals introduces Turbo Red as the new color strategy after 20 years of using Sub Green as the important and most visible color of adidas Equipment.
adidas’ Till Jagla says:
“With Turbo Red, we really brought the color concept full-circle, also by explaining that it’s the exact opposite color on the spectrum. Sub Green has accompanied us throughout the past two decades – and now Turbo Red will come along for the coming two decades. Because right now, as Gary Aspden already said, we are building the foundation for the next generation.”
What is new? What is different?
The big change is definitely the color. We already introduced you to Turbo Red above. Another change comes with the EQT Support Refine. adidas went into their laboratories to once again create a better shape. Then, for the first time, adidas used a boost midsole for the EQT ADV silhouette and created a moulded boost midsole so that the characteristic three stripes of classic EQT soles stay visible. The overall classic style of adidas Equipment is still visible – it’s still the “No Bullshit” demand!
Let’s talk money – what’s the price range of the EQT drop?
